Day 1: Individual arrival in Burgundy
Arrival in Batilly en Puisaye near Bonny-sur-Loire. Nature is surrounding you, the best way to start a bike tour. We have found special accommodations for you so that you can spend the night in the circus wagon or in the tree house.
Day 2: Batilly > Loire > Batilly, ~26 km
Today you cycle to the Loire, France's longest river. This is still wonderfully natural. Here you have the opportunity to get on the canoe and paddle along the Loire for 1 or 2 hours. After cycling a bit along the Loire, it's back to Batilly. The night is again in the circus wagon or in the tree house.
Day 3: Batilly > Pont Canal > Batilly, ~36 km
Today's bike tour takes you to the canal bridge of the Canal de Briare, which crosses the Loire. It was built between 1890-1896 with the help of Gustave Eiffel's company. Since the Loire was not navigable with larger merchant ships because of its many shallows, the Loire Lateral Canal (Canal latéral à la Loire) was built and completed in 1838. But the river crossing at Briare was always dangerous and dependent on the water flow. Finally the famous canal bridge over the Loire (Pont-Canal) was built. Go on a “treasure hunt” in the forest of Briare. Here you will find a sea of ​​mosaic and porcelain. Then drive back to your accommodation along the Loire.
Day 4: Batilly > Saint Fargeau, ~23 km
Today's bike route leads through the lovely landscape of the Puisaye and on quiet paths to Saint Fargeau. Upon arrival you have the opportunity to visit the castle. The beginnings of the Château de Saint Fargeau go back to 1453. In 1652 Anne Marie Louise d’Orléans, known as La Grande Mademoiselle, was exiled there. She had the castle renovated by François Le Vau, Louis Le Vau's brother. The roof structure of the castle is particularly noteworthy. The castle has a farm with animals and horse stables. Then there is a transfer to the car at the starting point (1 person without bicycles).
Day 5: Saint Fargeau > Guédelon > Saint Fargeau, ~29 km
Drive to the unique medieval construction site Guédelon. Your trip includes entry to this unique construction site. You have the opportunity to visit the children's atelier with reservation, e.g.with the stonemason. Then return and relax at Lac de Bourdon. This is a wonderful natural lake with water sports facilities. Overnight at Saint Fargeau.
Day 6: Saint Fargeau > Parc Boutissaint > Saint Fargeau, ~23 km
Cycle to the petting zoo and Parc Boutissaint. After that discover the Bois de la Folie. In the wood, you will experience a very nice adventure up in the trees. The cycle way is more in the forest area, but on small streets and much possibilities to have a picnic in the nature.
Day 7: Departure
It is time to say good-bye. Your cycling trip ends after breakfast.
