Vuelta de Menorca - 8 days

Save tour as PDF Print tour

In Menorca you can find peace and nature - the island awaits you with magnificent sandy beaches and natural landscapes. There is El Toro - the highest mountain of Menorca (358 m), the capital of Mahón with the largest natural port of the Mediterranean and its mighty fortifications. Also the bishop town Ciutadella with its architectural treasures is one of the sights of this island! Let yourself be surprised by this special potpourri of natural wonders and historical diversity in Spain! On the island is plenty of space for cycling, since around half of the island is under the protection of nature!

Day 1: Indiviual arrival to Mahón
Day 2: Mahón tour, ~30 km
After your welcome briefing, the bike ride leads you to the south of the island, in the French-based town of Sant Luis with its windmill. Stone walls line your way into the "white village" called Binibequer Vell with its small houses and narrow streets. On your way back you cycle along the south coast, past the Punta Prima beach and the lighthouse.
Day 3: Mahón - Es Mercadal, ~60 km
You pedal to Es Grau and the Albufera lagoon with its numerous bird species, including the fish eagle. It is the centerpiece of the Biosphere Reserve of Menorca. At the lighthouse of Faváritx you will find a lunar landscape of gray-black slate. The route takes you to Es Mercadal, famous for culinary highlights.
Day 4: Northern beaches, ~40 km
From the Es Mercadal over the dry stone walls, you can explore the beaches of the north, which are arranged like single pearls on a chain: Pregonda, Binimellá and Cavalleria with the once Roman port of Sanitja, and finally the fishing village of Fornells, where even the Spanish King dined. The return journey takes you back to Es Mercadal.
Day 5: Es Mercadal - Ciutadella, ~40 km
You enter the village of Es Gran Migjorn with its white houses. From Ferreries we go to the Bay of Cala Galdana and then to the west on historic paths, past prehistoric sites with their taulas and talaiots. In the end you will find the former capital of Ciutadella, coined by nobility and clergy.
Day 6: Ciutadella tour, ~10-30 km
After breakfast, our guide will pick you up for a city walk. In the afternoon, you will be able to admire several different options: the bays of Algaiarens, Cala Morell with their prehistoric burial caves or the lighthouse of Punta Nati, embedded in impressive and rugged rocky landscape.
Day 7: Southern beaches, ~30 km
From the point of departure in Ciutadella you can now explore the beaches of the South - Macarella, Turqueta or Son Saura. Back cycling between stone walls past agricultural farms - the so-called Llocs - with their own cheese production.
Day 8: Departure from Ciutadella
