You're interested in a bike tour along the beautiful Main River in the heart of Germany! Then don't hesitate to contact us. Enjoy the cycle trips on perfect cycling tracks, mostly next to the river, fully developed, well-paved and optimally signposted. Your journey begins in historic Bamberg, known for its beer, and not long after that you'll reach the area where the famous Franconia wine is produced. The Main region is ideal for cyclists: romantic, historic, and thoroughly enjoyable.

Day 1: Arrival to Bamberg (UNESCO-world heritage)
Once you've arrived, take the time to discover the old city, with its breweries and churches. We recommend seeing the Kaiserdom with its world-famous sculptures, such as the Bamberg knight and Heinrich II's sarcophagus. Your hotel is situated in Hallstadt, 5 km from Bamberg. Arrival by train is possible/ rental bike at the hotel. With a surcharge of 15 € per person you can stay at a hotel in the center of Bamberg.
Day 2: Bamberg - Haßfurt, ~37 km/23 miles
Today you'll be following the Regnitz until you reach the Main, which will then guide you to the Maria Limbach pilgrims' church. You'll come upon the first vineyards, which mark the the border between the beer- and wine-producing areas of Franconia. Your day's journey will end in Haßfurt, whose historic center is well worth your while to visit.
Day 3: Haßfurt - Volkach, ~56 km/35 miles
A quick side-trip to the beautiful town of Theres will give you new energy for the rest of the trip. Forests, fields, meadows, and the Main's floodplains offer a nicely varied landscape and guide you to Schweinfurt. In the afternoon you'll ride to Volkach, known for its excellent wines, by way of Fahr, city of the Bocksbeutel (a wide, rounded wine bottle typical for the region).
Day 4: Volkach - Würzburg, ~65 km/41 miles
After leaving Volkach you'll head away from the Main for a bit, following canals until you make it back to the Main in Schwarzach. The level, well-paved bike route means you'll be in Würzburg in no time, leaving plenty of opportunities to tour the city in the afternoon.
Day 5: Würzburg - Lohr, ~58 km/36 miles
On your way to Karlstadt and its famous down town area, you'll pass through Veitshöchheim, getting a chance to see the bishop's summer residence, as well as the French rococo garden. The look of the countryside is changing: instead of the characteristic vines there are shady forests directly at the bicycle path. On flat paths you cycle to Gemünden, the town of the three rivers and further on to Lohr.
Day 6: Lohr - Wertheim, ~43 km/26 miles
The Main took millions of years to carve out the close-packed hills of the area. Thankfully, your trip will not take that long. After you pass Rothenfels, whose castle guards the narrow valley, you'll reach Marktheidenfeld and, finally, Wertheim. Take some time to see the beautiful half-timbered houses in the old city during your stay here.
Day 7: Wertheim - Aschaffenburg, ~77 km/48 miles
On flat trails you will bike swiftly among the flat hills of the Spessart and Odenwald to Miltenberg (36 km) with its stately half-timbered houses. You can either spend the night there (please let us know at booking) or shorten the cycling distance by taking the train to Aschaffenburg (direct train, ca. 45 min., ticket not included in the tour price). Again vast vineyards will come into view. Enjoy cycling on the flat trail to Klingenberg (51 km), where you can take the train to Aschaffenburg, too. The Main bike trail stays flat and asphalted, providing relaxed cycling even on your last kilometers to Aschaffenburg (77 km), where the sandstone castle Johannisburg welcomes you.
Day 8: Aschaffenburg, Departure
Today your bicycle trip ends after breakfast.
