A cycle tour along the 'green pearl' in Austria with some of the most exciting natural adventures: First the Enns is a stream floating through the Ennstal Valley of Styria. But once the river reaches the Gesaeuse National Park the water gushes out of narrow gorges and continues to the National Park Kalkalpen. Framed by magnificent mountain peaks of the surrounding mountains the way leads besides lush meadows and through quiet forests to imposing impressions of nature.
Day 1: Arrival in Radstadt/Salzburg Sports World
Check-in at your hotel and let yourself be enchanted by the medieval flair of the city during a tour. If you have time or want to add an extra night, we recommend cycling to the source of the river Enns! We are happy to give you more details.
Day 2: Salzburg Sports World - Groebming, ~44 km/27 miles
The more narrow Enns follows over to the Styria and marvel over the stunning south face of the Dachstein, before you reach the Ski World Cup’s town of Schladming. In the now wide valley you cycle comfortably until a short ascent to Groebming ends the stage.
Day 3: Groebming - Admont, ~55 km/34 miles
You’re pleasantly cycling through the broad valley. From a distance the sharp spikes of the Gesäuseberge. You then reach Admont. Plan a stop at the magnificent Benedictine Abbey with the largest monastery library in the world.
Day 4: Admont - St. Gallen, ~55 km/34 miles
An impressive nature spectacle is waiting for you: Gesaeuse, one of the biggest canyons of Europe.
Day 5: St. Gallen - Großraming, ~40 km/25 miles
Today's stage leads you right to the heart of the Kalkalpen National Park. You cycle up the steep path to the Mooshöhe (~4 km - transfer for extra surcharge possible - directly on the spot). Afterwards you are going downhill along old paths through untouched nature via Reichraming to Großraming. An alternative version (~35 km) leads along the Enns Cycle Path via Weyer to Großraming.
Day 6: Großraming - Steyr, ~40 km/25 miles
Follow the river Enns until you reach the romantic town Steyr. You can visit lots of historical sights.
Day 7: Steyr - Linz, ~50 km/31 miles
Enns is the oldest town in Austria and worth seeing it. From the tower you have an amazing overview on the region. Take the ferry boat over the river Danube and continue your journey along the Danube cycle track to your final destination Linz.
