This outstanding cycle tour takes you from the Slovene capital Ljubljana to the Adriatic Sea. It's a classical Slovene bike tour that takes you along most known historical attractions of Slovenia and many natural points of interest. Highlights include the Slovene capital of Ljubljana with its old town center and mighty fortress, Postojna caves, Stanjel, village with its museum of well-kept old houses, the Lipizzaner stud farm of Lipica, Trieste, and Koper, an “island” town above Adriatic.

Day 1: Ljubljana
Main attractions: Slovene capital, old town center, and lovely “fin de siècle” mansions with the mighty fortress above the city. We liked: relaxing with a drink on the bank of Ljubljanica River. Make an evening walk and enjoy the lights and sounds of the city.
Day 2: Ljubljana - Vrhnika, ~39 or 57 km
Tour goes across Ljubljansko Barje, large flatland, former marsh area surrounding the capital. Main attractions: a short walk into Iski Vintgar gorge nature reserve remains of the world highest railway viaduct in Borovnica, Technical Museum of republic of Slovenia - there’s a great hunting collection and an exhibition on Tito's cars.
Day 3: Vrhnika - Postojna, ~32 or 44 km
Hilly day, side roads. Flat sections cross typical Karst fields. Main attractions: some real Slovenia - away from main tourist routes and off beaten track. We liked: a picnic lunch in the nature reserve Rakov Škocjan - underneath some beautiful landscape forms.
Day 4: Postojna - Štanjel area, ~42 or 48 km
Easy routes, one long descent some hills afterwards. Main attractions: Postojna caves - world famous attraction - so far nearly 30 million visitors! Beautiful lime stone formations, not forgetting to mention the unique “human fish”! We liked: a detour possibility to Predjama castle. The last Slovene knight once owned it. Learn about his romantic destiny.
Day 5: Štanjel area - Lipica - Divaca, ~48 km
The romantic village Štanjel perched on the Karst plateau. Home to the world famous white Lipizzaner horses - through sleepy villages and welcoming vineyards you reach Lipica. History buffs can visit the impressive war museum in the tower of Lokev.
Day 6: Divaca - Muggia, ~38 km
Real downhill! Biking towards the Adriatic you can enjoy the beautiful panorama of the coast to the Italian border. There is the possibility to make a trip to Trieste. After a tasty gelato in Muggia take the time and relax on on of the beautiful beaches along the Adriatic coast.
Day 7: Muggia - Piran, ~37 or 48 km
Gorgeous cycling along the coast to Izola.
