Save tour as PDF Print tour
from 69 € Per person

From the north east of the Dolomites the bike path takes you through the Pustertal Valley to Bruneck and then on to the bishop’s town of Brixen. From here you cycle to the capital town of South Tyrol, Bolzano, to visit the oldest Tyrolean, the Ice Man. After a short visit to the spa town of Meran with its Mediterranean flair you cycle along the side of the River Adige through orchards and fields to Lake Garda, the well-loved lake in Italy. Highlights are: Bruneck (main town of the Pustertal Valley), Monastery of Neustift and the collegiate library, Diocese town of Brixen (cultural center of Tyrol), Säben Cloister in Klausen, Wine producing area of Kaltern and Tramin Bolzano (museums, promenades, culture ...), Spa town of Meran with its Mediterranean flair, Trento (old part of town, Castle Buonconsiglio), Rovereto (old Tyrolean border town), Lake Garda. By the way: The Dolomites owe their name to a French aristocrat by the name of Déodat Gratet de Dolomieu (1750-1801). After a scientific journey in the Alps, Dolomieu sent a rock sample from the Dolomites to the Swiss chemist Nicolas de Saussure. The letter analyzed the sample and presented this unknown mineral at a scientific meeting in 1796. He proposed to name this mineral after its discoverer.
