Cycling holidays at the Lake Constance are a "must" for all who love bike tours - especially with France-Bike, your specialist for biking vacations. Lake Constance connects Germany, Austria and Switzerland and the surrounding areas are home to an interesting mix of peoples and cultural traditions. You are staying at the hotel Seeterrasse for the duration of one week and will discover the beautiful region by bike (and sometimes by boat).
Day 1: Arrival in Langenargen
When you arrive at the hotel in Langenargen, your rental bike (if booked) and your detailed tour information are still waiting for you at the reception. And in the evening there will be a first welcome dinner.
Day 2: Meersburg, ~56 km/35 miles
Start your cycling holidays on the Lake Constance’s bike path which will lead you first to Friedrichshafen with the famous Zeppelin museum and an impressive castle. Then you ride on to Meersburg with its gorgeous castle grounds and many small streets and inviting places on the banks of the lake. From here you will take the same way back to your hotel. However you can lengthen the stage by making a detour to Unteruhlingen, where you should not miss to visit the ‘Stilt house museum’. This archaeological open air museum consists of reconstructions of stilt houses from the Neolithic Stone Age and the Bronze Age and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 3: Konstanz - Mainau or Reichenau Island, ~35 km/22 miles, 2 boat tours including bike
This morning again you will ride to Friedrichshafen, where you will take a catamaran to Konstanz on the other side of the lake. Here you have to choose if you want to cycle to the garden island of Mainau or to Reichenau Island which was declared a World Heritage Site because of its monastery. Take your time to see all the beauty but don’t miss the last boat at 7p.m. to come back to Friedrichshafen and finally to your hotel.
Day 4: Lake Constance region individual
Enjoy a day to explore the area by yourself and discover sites like for example the town of Ravensburg with all its towers and the historic museum’s district or the famous Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen, the largest plain waterfall in Europe.
Day 5: 3-Lakes-Tour: Lake Schleinsee, Degersee & Muttelsee, ~38 km/24 miles
Today’s cycle trip leads you to the natural reserve of Argenmündung. You’re riding along the Argen River and in the middle of the hops fields to the town of Apflau and from here on to the three lakes Schleinsee, Degersee and Muttelsee. If you still got something left in your legs, you can continue to castle Achberg. Finally you will ride along magnificent countryside to Lindau, from where you follow the Lake Constance bike path back to Langenargen.
Day 6: Hops tour, ~42 km/26 miles
Today’s stage is dedicated to Germany’s most important plant: hop. You cycle through Eriskirch and Friedrichshafen to get to the town of Tettnanger and its hops museum. Here you can find out everything about traditional brewing and, of course, beer tasting is possible, too. Afterwards you ride back to your hotel on the right side of the Argen River and by passing the beautiful town of Laimnau.
Day 7: Wasserburg - Rheinspitz - Bregenz, ~45 km/28 miles, ~45 min boat, ~40 min train
This stage includes three different countries. First you cycle to Wasserburg where you’ll take the ferry to Rorschach in Switzerland. From here the way leads you through the natural reserve Rheinspitz to Bregenz in Austria and then back to Lindau in Germany. Finally you take the train to get back to your hotel.
