This bike trip will let you discover the littoral of Cape Corsica, the Northern Peninsula, flowing and peaceful on the East coast, wild and abrupt on the West side, as well as its inland with a specific and different nature each day. Throughout your stay you will come across many towers, all of them being the keepers of the coasts. You will meet inhabitants proud of their island who will make you share their enthusiasm and will make you discover the Corsican gastronomy. Corsica will not leave you indifferent!
Day 1: Arrival in Bastia
The tour starts in Bastia, capital of upper Corsica. Depending on your arrival time, you can visit the citadel, the old city and its little harbor (excellent place for a good diner).
Day 2: Bastia - Sisco, ~15-30 km
After breakfast, you take your bicycle and leave northwards; the road follows the coastline. Enjoy the views over the crystal clear waters and the numerous hidden creeks which could shelter you for a swim if you wish to. When you cross the little fisher village of Erbalunga, don't hesitate to stop for a moment in this charming place.
Day 3: Sisco - Macinaggio, ~30 km
Still following the coastal road, today you'll have the possibility to take a swim in one of the many little creeks. Once you have reached Macinaggio you can whether relax at the beach or go for a short walk on the well-known path "Sentier des Douaniers".
Day 4: Macinaggio - Canari, ~45 km
A wonderful day to enjoy the stunning views you'll have from the road, which is winding along the coast and its cliffs. Corsica in full beauty! Tonight you will stay in the village of Canari.
Day 5: Canari - Saint-Florent, ~35 km
Today’s highlight will probably be Nonza, one of the most spectacular villages of Corsica. It overlooks a "black beach" and from the beautiful Genoese tower you will have a rare view over the coast. The landscapes changes to limestone’s mountains and vineyards (you can stop at Patrimonio for a little wine tasting). Your overnight stop is Saint Florent, where you have to visit the citadel and the harbor!
Day 6: Saint-Florent - Bastia, ~20-25 km
Last but not least, this stage is the toughest, with the climb (and descent!) of the Teghime Pass (+536 Meters). There you can see both coasts; the gulf of St Florent on the west and the Marana beach on the east.
Day 7: Individual departure or extra nights
The tour takes end after breakfast but you can lengthen your stay for some more days on the beach, of course!
