Cycling through the historic Aquitaine region.

France-Bike, your partner for cycling holidays in France is pleased to present you this cycle trip from Bordeaux to Toulouse (or from Toulouse to Bordeaux). Please note that this tour can also be done in reverse order Toulouse to Bordeaux. This bike tour along the Canal de Garonne will bring you from the beautiful city of Bordeaux to Toulouse. The Canal de Garonne which was built about 150 years ago has lots of architectural highlights as for example the famous boat lift in Montech or the Pont-Canal du Cacor near the town of Moissac, where the canal is crossing the river Tarn over a bridge. And not to forget all the beautiful and impressive towns along the canal like Moissac with its imposing abbey or Mas-d’Agenais. And all the time you will be surrounded by such a lovely landscape with all its vineyards and its orchards so that this tour is without any doubt a perfect combination of nature, culture and history.

Day 1: Arrival in Bordeaux
Come to the wine capital of the Médoc and settle in to your charming 3*** hotel in the heart of the city.
Day 2: Bordeaux > Frontenac/Saint-Martin-de-Lerm, ~50-60 km
Start your cycling tour along the banks of the Garonne River and immerse yourself in the beautiful landscape of the 'Entre-Deux-Mers' region. Enjoy this stage on excellent bike paths and along the meadows and forests. Stop in Creon and Sauveterre de Guyenne and admire the medieval architecture of the old fortifications. Continue your journey through countless vineyards and you'll reach the area around Saint-Martin-de-Lerm, where you will spend the night at a local hotel. Today your dinner is included.
Day 3: Frontenac/Saint-Martin-de-Lerm > Meilhan/Noaillac, ~25-55 km
Today you finally reach the bike path along the Garonne Canal. You'll be surprised at how good a condition this is in. Cyclists have lots to do here, be it a picnic lunch along the way, a wine tasting or to visit one of the many typical picturesque villages. Today your dinner is included.
Day 4: Meilhan/Noaillac > Sérignac, ~60 km
Biking through the Garonne valley, your current path is lined with orchards. Cruise along under the plane trees of the canal and experience the local traditions up close in villages such as Le Mas d'Agen. Completion of this stage is Sérignac. Its medieval center from the 13th century is worth a visit.
Day 5: Sérignac > Moissac, ~60 km
Today's stage is perhaps the most beautiful of the entire bike tour, so many highlights in one day! The canal bridge over the Baise, the aqueduct at Agen Auvillar, Lake Saint-Nicolas-de-la-Grave and finally picturesque Moissac will enchant you. And from your hotel room, you have a direct view of the Tarn and Garonne rivers merging.
Day 6: Moissac > Toulouse, ~64 km
Your last stage leads to Toulouse, the pink city on the Garonne River. The city got the nickname because of its many red brick buildings. But besides that Toulouse has much to offer. The Canal du Midi starts (or ends!) here, and the Capitol, the main square of the city is really impressive. Other sites of interest include the cathedral and the space center.
