Have some relaxation and cycling holidays and discover the Lake Balaton. On this bike tour you have the feeling that time stands still. You cycle through sleepy little wine villages far away from the hustle and the bustle. You're pedaling through vineyards and national parks and you'll discover all the important historical sights of the Balaton region. The trail is almost always flat with very few exceptions on the north and east banks, so that everyone can do it. We can also recommend it for families. On the northern bank you are going through a national park with beautiful vineyards where you can have a rest. From the eastern bank you have an amazing overview on the Lake Balaton. The southern bank is very flat and you pass by several seaside resorts and marinas.

Day 1: Individual arrival in Balatonfüred
Day 2: Eastern coast: Balatonfüred - Siófok, ~50 km/31 miles
You ride along the east and the north bank of the lake, passing by Balatonfüzfö, where a summer coasting slide is open to the public. From the cliff line between Balatonkenese and Akarattya you can overview the entire lake. At the end of the day you ride on the bike lane through elegant residential areas and all the time along the bank to Siófok. And after a stroll through the town you’ll turn back to your hotel by boat.
Day 3: Western Coast: Vineyard of Badacsony, ~50 km/31 miles
On the well-prepared bike lane you’re riding along the north bank of the lake to Badacsony, the biggest vineyard of the Balaton. Around this volcanic mountain you’ll find lots of inviting wineries that also offer a splendid view over the lake. And after an extensive wine-tasting you’ll go back to your hotel by train.
Day 4: Tihany peninsula
From Balatonfüred you’re riding to the peninsula Tihany. You’ll see lots of landmarked fishermen’s houses. Before arriving in Tihany you’ll pass by the beautiful church of the Benedictine abbey, which also is the towns’ emblem. From here you’ll have an overwhelming view over the lake and its surroundings. Afterwards you’ll take the ferry boat to get to the south bank, where you’ll pass the towns of Szántód and Balatonföldvár before arriving in Balatonlelle with its beautiful beach. Finally you’ll take the same way back to your hotel.
Day 5: Veszprém, ~64 km/40 miles
Along the well signed bike lane you’re riding to Balatonalmadi and on to Vesprem, one of the most important Hungarian towns while the middle age. Here you should absolutely visit the historic district around the fortress with the Saint Michael’s cathedral and the archiepiscopal palace. And as a student’s town Veszprem is also very young and lively place. Not to forget to mentions the cultural meaning of this town. So there are many theaters and groups of artistes in Veszprem.
Day 6: Siófok, ~50 km/31 miles
You ride along the east and the north bank of the lake, passing by Balatonfüzfö, where a summer coasting slide is open to the public. From the cliff line between Balatonkenese and Akarattya you can overview the entire lake. At the end of the day you ride on the bike lane through elegant residential areas and all the time along the bank to Siófok. And after a stroll through the town you’ll turn back to your hotel by boat.
Day 7: Balatonakali-Aszófö, ~51 km/32 miles
The beautiful village of Dörgicse invites you to an extended stroll in the morning. You’ll see three churches and three ruins of other churches. The townscape is a romantic mixture of old ruins and very new build houses. Rich people from Budapest have been the first who came here after the wall came down and bought and restored all these houses. Afterwards you’ll pass by the village of Vászoly from where you’ll ride downhill to Pécsely. Take your time and enjoy the panoramic view over valleys, hills and vineyards. From Pécsely you’ll go southwards to Aszófö and back to the banks of the lake. It is worth to make a little side trip to Örvényes with its water mill and to the cemetery of Balatonudvari before returning to the hotel.
